Caste system :

The Indian caste system is a social and religious system that has been in place in India for thousands of years. The system divides people into different social groups or castes, which are based on their birth and occupation.

Four main castes :

The caste system is composed of four main castes: Brahmins (priests and scholars), Kshatriyas (warriors and rulers), Vaishyas (merchants and traders), and Shudras (laborers and artisans). Below the four main castes are the Dalits (formerly known as "untouchables"), who are considered to be outside the caste system and are often subjected to discrimination and social exclusion.

Impact on society :

The caste system has had a profound impact on Indian society and culture, shaping everything from social relationships to economic opportunities. While the Indian government has made efforts to address caste-based discrimination through affirmative action programs and anti-discrimination laws, the caste system still persists in many parts of the country.
